July 11- Flight and Arrival in Rome

Great flight --- with Earth rotating and the aircraft going 600mph, the shortest route was directly over Canada, Hudson's Bay, Greenland, Iceland, North Sea, Denmark, and into Frankfurt. Had a 90 minute layover and weren't late to the next transfer to Rome due to the Luftanza Cart we hijacked (just kidding.)

Stu (our 4 partner) met us at the Rome airport and we had great directions from their via trains and walking to our Rome residence --- RomanItalian B&B. Marco, the owner, greeted us and mapped out a afternoon walking loop that included the Coliseum, Palantine Hill, Arch de Constatine, the Forum and several back-streets and alleys that gave us a feel for the layout of our area. That´s Marco at the far right in the photo.

He recommended a great little restaurant (see desert), had real pizza, and followed up with gelato's on the way home. 32 hours without sleep --- had to get on their time table.

Upon returning, Marco had some computer questions :)
Amazingly, using Windows XP ITALIAN, I figured out how to transfer all the data from his filled up hard drive to an external hard drive. My Italian is getting pretty good after just one day. We can all say thank you, food, and where's the toilet. Seriously, that is very important to know as they are far and few between when out there touring.

Slept pretty good. Great way to start a trip.
